These are our most detailed geologic maps, and are produced by compiling the information obtained during field traverses, rock outcrop examination, and in some instances, the results of drilling. This information consists of rock and sediment observations and measurements that are recorded and compiled using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software in order to prepare the maps available through this web page. The map bases used are Digital Raster Graphics (DRG's) of U.S. Geological Survey 7.5-minute series topographic maps. These maps portray an area consisting of 7.5 minutes of both latitude and longitude, or about 60 square miles.
