Macon County is the first in a series of North Carolina counties that are being studied in detail for potential and known landslide hazards. Staff with the North Carolina Geological Survey in Swannanoa are heading up this multi-year effort.

hard-copy maps through our Geological Survey Shop.
Macon County Landslide Hazard Data can now be viewed interactively online using our Macon County Landslide Map Viewer. Users can also view additional Macon County spatial data layers, such as county tax parcels, roads, hydrography, and critical facilities. Several vintages of aerial photography are also available through this viewer.
Also available are the spatial data files (GIS) used to create these maps.
