These two images show the size of individual quarried blocks. They are being loaded on a flat bed truck Blocks are sprayed with water while being loaded to clean them. Each of the blocks weighs between 36,000 and 38,000 pounds. Each is placed in a container for loading on a container vessel for overseas ocean transport. About 80 percent of these blocks are shipped overseas. The Port of Savannah, Georgia is the port most commonly used to export these blocks.
